I'm also 52. I don't have have to worry about curls so much anymore. Now I worry about gray. I'm not vain about much, but I don't want gray hair yet....even though I have plenty of it!

My mom used to torture me by putting my hair in pin curls with bobby pins. I swear every Christmas morning photo of me I had a head full of bobby pins and a hairnet until I was 12 years old. Home perm's...that was another form of torture.

These two kiddos are too cute. A lot of sewing and hand embroidery went into their clothing. I sew my reenactor clothing on my machine, but there's stiil much hand sewing involved. I'm glad I don't have to clothe my family!

Yes, pomade! Being a civil war reenactor with short hair has been my biggest challenge to get an accurate look...but I can do it with lots of hair gel and fake hair pieces. I haven't gone so far as to collect hair from my brush to make "rats" though.

What do you suppose that hair pomade was made with?? Most likely all natural ingredients ...like lard and wax!

Makes me wonder what kind of hair product was used to keep it like that. I bet it wasn't Dippitydo!

Mom's Hat

I so wish hats would come back in style. Corsets...not so much.
